More info

If the first sonata represents the presentation of credentials of a young and
talented composer who is only just aged thirty, then the Opus 99, composed twenty
years later, is the work of a composer at the zenith of his creative impetus.
In an intermediate position, from a chronological and stylistic point of view, is his
first Sonata for violin Opus 78, transcribed years later for cello. At first sight, the work
gives off a spontaneous and vital lyricism, but a more in-depth analysis reveals
Brahms´ interest in shaping thematic materials through the different movements.
