Miniatures catalanes per a violí i piano

This grouping of miniatures for violin and piano faithfully reflects the chamber music being composed in Catalonia from the late 20th century until just after 1939. With the dawning of the Renaixença movement, especially after 1859, a symbolic system gradually took shape that would define Catalan music. It would be impossible to talk about chamber music with its own identity without referring to the socio-political and cultural background that fostered it, and brought about a system of ideological coincidences.
These particular, cultural and social events gave precedence to a series of elements that permeated the entire output of the country?s composers. The key themes were the cançó popular (traditional Catalan song), Catalan poetry, the aesthetic glance at the Northern European repertoire ? both the French and the most romantic Germanic compositions ? and, to a large extent, the landscape of the country seen from the system of symbols created by contemporary literature. The interpretation of the two values Catalan music current as the violinist Kalina Macuta and pianist Daniel Blanch who have already participated in other recordings for Columna Música.
