La España imaginada

When Albéniz and Pedrell met the latest revealed Albéniz the importance of Spanish popular music and its possibilities. From that moment on Albéniz “objective was to make Spanish music with a universal accent”. This CD gathers the rewards which came between 1886 and 1887, the Suite española and Recuerdos de viaje, the first two masterpieces in which the foundations for best of his art are laid. The titles of the various movements already clearly point to an Iberian orientation, with references to peninsular cities or regions in the case of the first work (Granada, Sevilla, Cádiz, etc.) and typical Spanish postcard imagery in the second (En el mar, En la Alhambra, Rumores de La Caleta, etc.).
