Josep Fuster, clarinettist
Born in Vilanova de Castelló (Valencia), he studied with V. Romero and J. Talens Sebastià, J. Panyella and J. Tordera at the Higher Conservatories in Valencia and Barcelona. He currently teaches Clarinet and Chamber Music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and has been a soloist at the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC) since 1993.
Since 2005, he has formed a duo with Isabel Hernández, with whom he has recorded Música virtuosa per a clarinet i piano, vols. I, II, III and IV, the two Sonatas by Brahms and Homenatge a Weber i Rossini â all of them, critically acclaimed recordings. He has also recorded the complete works for clarinet and string quartet by the composer Jesús Rodríguez Picó and the Quintet de la Sala de Llevant for clarinet and string quartet, by Xavier Benguerel, Clarinet concertino, by Jordi Cervelló, Concierto para clarinete «Luces del Alba», by Zulema de la Cruz, Fantasí­a para clarinete, cuerdas y pequeña percusión, by Juan Medina, and El clarinete mágico, by Juan B. Meseguer, all of which were dedicated to him.
