The repertoire about Alfonso X has been the subject of numerous recordings and is one of the most well-edited-and therefore known-of medieval music. It is also one of the most controversial.
The most discussed issue is that of musical rhythm. These melodies are to be interpreted rhythmically or, on the contrary, they must be lacking. Although there are other aspects such as the melodic transcription, the semitone, or the pronunciation of texts on which interpreters and musicologists have not yet unanimously agreed.
This recording has been based on performing a work that had original elements and that somehow were new, with the risk that entails when dealing with a repertoire so interpreted and so well known.
