Chopin: Nocturnos

A particularly relevant, and revealing, section of Chopin´s catalogue is found in his nocturnes, a series of short, free-standing pieces in which the composer´s favourite texture, the accompanied melody, reigns sovereign. Although the melody always predominates in the works of this great Polish musician, also impressive is the remarkable freedom with which he developed the harmonic and rhythmic treatment of the pieces.
