This CD contains Luigi Boccherini´ Quartets Op. 8 dedicated to enrapture the ears and taste of his future protective Infante Don Luis de Borbón. The lavishly expressive slow movements suggest a musical tribute to the well-known melancholy of the Borbons and distinguish the Op. 8 quartets from the compositions that came before them. Thus it is that Op. 8 stands near the beginning of a fruitful practice in which the Luccan master was to attain great heights, since he would compose at least 90 authenticated string quartets throughout his entire creative life.
