Benet Casablancas 60

This album has been released to celebrate the 60th birthday of the SabadeII—born composer Benet Casablancas, offering to a wider audience the concert that took place at the Teatre Principal in Sabadell en 3 March 2017. The event was organized by the Jovenuts Musicals de Sabadell with the support of a number of local institutions, including the Town Council, the Fundació Antiga Caixa de Sabadell, Fundació Bosch i Cardellach and Columna Música, with the special collaboration of the classical music station Catalunya Música.

The programme featured works for a variety of ensembles, including Chamber pieces and compositions for piano and for guitar, five of which are world premiere recordings. These pieces exemplify the composer's mature style. Some of them are fairly recent, whereas others are representative of other periods, but on the whole they offer a varied and contrasted picture of the author's personality. Casablancas is widely regarded as one of the most significant composers of his generation, and his oeuvre has been awarded numerous national and international prizes.
